Daṇḍa as the Foundation of Social Order (दण्डप्रतिष्ठा)
यत्र श्यामो लोहिताक्षो दण्डश्चरति सूद्यत: । प्रजास्तत्र न मुहान्ते नेता चेत् साधु पश्यति
yatra śyāmo lohitākṣo daṇḍaś carati sūdyataḥ | prajāstatra na muhyante netā cet sādhu paśyati ||
যেখানে শাস্তিদণ্ড—শ্যাম ও লোহিতাক্ষ—সদা প্রহার করতে উদ্যত হয়ে বিচরণ করে, আর যেখানে শাসক অপরাধের উপর সতর্ক ও বিচক্ষণ দৃষ্টি রাখেন, সেখানে প্রজারা বিভ্রান্ত হয় না, অবহেলাও করে না; ন্যায়সঙ্গত তত্ত্বাবধান ও শৃঙ্খলার দৃঢ় উপস্থিতিতে শাসন স্থিত থাকে।
