मृदुरित्यवजानन्ति तीक्ष्ण इत्युद्धिजन्ति च । तीक्षणकाले भवेत् तीक्ष्णो मृदुकाले मृदुर्भवेत्
mṛdur ity avajānanti tīkṣṇa ity uddvijanti ca | tīkṣṇakāle bhavet tīkṣṇo mṛdukāle mṛdur bhavet ||
রাজা যদি সর্বদা কোমল হন, লোকেরা তাঁকে তুচ্ছ করে; আর যদি সর্বদা কঠোর হন, তবে তারা ভীত ও বিরক্ত হয়। অতএব কঠোরতার সময় কঠোর হোক, আর কোমলতার সময় কোমল হোক।
