Educational Q&A

A householder should distribute food properly—honoring gods, ancestors, guests, and dependents first—and eat only the remainder; such disciplined, other-first conduct leads toward an unconquerable spiritual goal.

Arjuna states a dharma teaching: those called vighasāśins, who follow the rule of morning-and-evening distribution of food in the household and eat last, are said to attain a secure, hard-to-overcome state.
