Kṛpa’s Counsel to Duryodhana
hatvā tat puruṣānīkaṁ bhīmaḥ satyaparākramaḥ
The verse highlights steadfast valor (satyaparākrama) in the midst of battle: in the Mahābhārata’s ethical world, a warrior’s duty may demand fierce action, and the narrative marks Bhīma’s unwavering prowess as a defining trait rather than celebrating violence for its own sake.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhīma has cut down a significant enemy contingent (puruṣānīka). The line functions as a battlefield update emphasizing Bhīma’s effectiveness and momentum in the Shalya Parva war sequence.
