न त्वं कापुरुषाचीर्ण मार्गमास्थातुमर्हसि । ख्यातस्त्वमसि कौन्तेय विशिष्टो रणकर्मसु
na tvaṁ kāpuruṣācīrṇa-mārgam āsthātum arhasi | khyātas tvam asi kaunteya viśiṣṭo raṇa-karmasu ||
হে কৌন্তেয়! কাপুরুষদের অনুসৃত পথ তোমার গ্রহণ করা উচিত নয়; তুমি তো রণকর্মে বিশিষ্ট ও খ্যাতিমান।
संजय उवाच
One should not abandon one’s rightful duty out of fear; for a kṣatriya, courage and steadfastness in righteous battle are integral to dharma, and personal honor is tied to acting in accordance with one’s proven nature and responsibilities.
Sañjaya, narrating the battlefield events, addresses Arjuna (Kaunteya) with a rebuke/encouragement: he urges him not to adopt cowardly conduct and reminds him of his established fame and excellence in warfare.
