कक्षमिद्धो यथा वद्विनिदाघे ज्वलितो महान् । महाराज! जैसे ग्रीष्म-ऋतुमें अत्यन्त प्रज्वयलित हुई आग सूखे काठ एवं घास-फ़ूसको जला देती है, उसी प्रकार कर्ण शत्रुसेनाको दग्ध करने लगा
kakṣam iddho yathā vahnir nidāghe jvalito mahān | mahārāja! yathā grīṣma-ṛtau atyanta-prajvalitā agniḥ śuṣka-kāṣṭha-tṛṇa-puñjān dagdhvā vināśayati, tathā karṇaḥ śatru-senāṃ dagdhum ārabdhavān |
সঞ্জয় বললেন—মহারাজ! যেমন গ্রীষ্মের প্রচণ্ড তাপে প্রজ্বলিত মহা অগ্নি শুকনো কাঠ ও ঘাস-খড়ের স্তূপ দগ্ধ করে ফেলে, তেমনই কর্ণ শত্রুসেনাকে দগ্ধ করে বিনাশ করতে শুরু করল।
