The verse highlights kṣatriya resolve and battlefield duty: a warrior may set aside even a famed opponent to fulfill the immediate strategic task of breaking the enemy host. The ethical emphasis is on decisive action aligned with one’s role in a justly undertaken war, not on personal rivalry alone.
Sañjaya describes Bhīma moving past Karṇa and charging into the Kaurava forces. Bhīma is compared to a blazing fire consuming dry brush, conveying the speed and ferocity with which he seeks to scorch and shatter the enemy ranks.
