Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the escalating brutality of war: once hostilities are set in motion, clashes recur with increasing ferocity, reminding the listener (the king) of the grave ethical weight and consequences borne by rulers and armies.

Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a renewed and extremely fierce battle has erupted between the king’s forces and the allied warriors of the Pāñcālas, Cedis, and Sṛñjayas.
