कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

पदातीनां तु सहसा प्रद्गुतानां महाहवे । उत्सृज्याभरणं तूर्णमवप्लुत्य रणाजिरे
sañjaya uvāca | padātīnāṃ tu sahasā pradrutānāṃ mahāhave | utsṛjyābharaṇaṃ tūrṇam avaplutya raṇājire |
সঞ্জয় বললেন—সেই মহাযুদ্ধে পদাতিকরা হঠাৎই ভেঙে পড়ে পালাতে লাগল। অলংকার ফেলে তারা রণক্ষেত্রে লাফিয়ে-ঝাঁপিয়ে দ্রুত সরে গেল। আতঙ্কে পরিত্যক্ত সেই বিচিত্র অলংকার যেন আঘাতের নিমিত্ত হয়ে উঠল; হাতিরা সুযোগ মনে করে পলায়মানদের শুঁড়ে তুলে দাঁতের মাঝে চেপে গুঁড়িয়ে ভেঙে ফেলত।
