कर्णपर्व — पञ्चदशोऽध्यायः | Karṇa Parva, Chapter 15: Pāṇḍya’s Advance and Aśvatthāmā’s Counterstroke
अर्जुनने संशप्तकोंके रथके त्रिवेणु
siddhadevarṣisaṅghāś ca cāraṇāś cāpi tuṣṭuvuḥ | devadundubhayo neduḥ puṣpavarṣāṇi cāpatam ||
অর্জুন সংশপ্তকদের রথের ত্রিবেণু, চক্র ও ধুর ভেঙে চূর্ণ করে দিলেন। তিনি যোদ্ধা, অশ্ব ও সারথিদের সংহার করলেন; অস্ত্র ও তূণীর ধ্বংস করলেন; ধ্বজাগুলি খণ্ড-বিখণ্ড করে দিলেন; জোয়াল ও লাগাম কেটে ফেললেন; রক্ষার্থে বসানো চর্মাবরণ ও কূবর নষ্ট করলেন। রথতল্প ও জোয়াল ভেঙে, রথাসন এবং ধুর-সংযোগকারী কাঠও টুকরো টুকরো করে দিলেন। যেমন বায়ু মহামেঘকে বিদীর্ণ করে, তেমনই বিজয়শীল অর্জুন রথগুলিকে খণ্ডিত করে সকলকে বিস্মিত করে একাই সহস্র মহারথীর ন্যায় দর্শনীয় পরাক্রম প্রদর্শন করলেন—যা শত্রুদের ভয় বাড়ায়। সিদ্ধ, দেব ও ঋষিসঙ্ঘ এবং চারণগণ আনন্দে তাঁর স্তব করল; দেবদুন্দুভি ধ্বনিত হল, আর আকাশ থেকে পুষ্পবৃষ্টি ঝরল।
