Karṇa’s Lament upon Seeing Bhīṣma Fallen

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the complementarity of power and guidance: Kṛṣṇa is likened to wind—an unseen but decisive force that drives outcomes—implying that righteous direction and strategic intelligence are as crucial as martial strength in a dharmic conflict.

Sañjaya, narrating the battle to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, characterizes the key figures on the Pāṇḍava side. Here he asserts with certainty that Kṛṣṇa’s role is like the wind—propelling and shaping events—within the unfolding combat scene.
