Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that war is executed through disciplined expertise: warriors are trained across many weapon-systems and even unarmed combat. Ethically, this amplifies accountability—destruction in battle is not mere impulse but the outcome of cultivated capability, making the decision to wage war weightier in terms of dharma and consequence.

Sañjaya is reporting to Dhṛtarāṣṭra about the combat readiness of the forces, listing categories of weapons and skills to convey that the fighters are broadly trained and fully prepared for battle.
