Chapter 7: Dvīpa–Varṣa–Meru-varṇana
Description of the Dvīpa, Varṣas, and Mount Meru
uttarāḥ kuravo rājan vyākhyātās te samāsataḥ | meroḥ pārśvam ahaṃ pūrvaṃ vakṣyāmy atha yathātatham ||
The verse foregrounds disciplined narration and truthfulness: the speaker promises an orderly, accurate account (“yathātatham”), modeling responsible speech and reliable transmission of knowledge to the king.
Sanjaya, addressing King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, concludes a brief description of Uttara-Kuru and transitions to the next geographical section: Bhadrāśva, located on the eastern side of Mount Meru.
