देवदूतवच: श्रुत्वा वधे तस्य मनो दे | उस कटे हुए धनुषको फेंककर पितामह भीष्मने देवदूतके कथनपर ध्यान देकर तुरंत ही श्वेतके वधका निश्चय किया
devadūta-vacaḥ śrutvā vadhe tasya mano dadhe | utsṛjya chinnaṃ dhanuḥ śvetasya vadha-niścayaṃ pitāmaho bhīṣmaḥ kṛtavān ||
দেবদূতের বাক্য শুনে ভীষ্ম শ্বেতবধে মন স্থির করলেন। ভাঙা ধনুক ফেলে দিয়ে পিতামহ ভীষ্ম সেই স্বর্গীয় নির্দেশে মনোযোগী হয়ে তৎক্ষণাৎ শ্বেতকে বধ করার সংকল্প নিলেন।
