भूमिगुण-प्रश्नः
Inquiry into the qualities of Earth and the classification of beings
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्ाभारत भीष्मपर्वके अन्तर्गत जम्बूखण्डविनिर्माणपर्वमें भूमिगुणवर्णनविषयक चौथा अध्याय पूरा हुआ
bhūmir āpas tathā vāyur agnir ākāśam eva ca | guṇottarāṇi sarvāṇi teṣāṃ bhūmiḥ pradhānataḥ ||
সঞ্জয় বললেন— পৃথিবী, জল, বায়ু, অগ্নি ও আকাশ—এই পাঁচ মহাভূত। আকাশ থেকে শুরু করে পৃথিবী পর্যন্ত ক্রমে ক্রমে প্রত্যেক পরবর্তী ভূতে পূর্ববর্তীটির তুলনায় একটি করে গুণ অধিক হয়; আর এদের মধ্যে পৃথিবীকেই প্রধান বলা হয়।
