Yoga-maturity is defined by non-attachment: one neither hankers after sense-pleasures nor becomes inwardly entangled in action as ‘mine’. The decisive renunciation is of saṅkalpa—ego-driven intending and craving—so that the mind becomes steady and fit for true yoga.
In the Gītā’s instruction on yoga, the teacher characterizes the stage called yogārūḍha (established in yoga). The focus shifts from external renunciation to inner freedom: the practitioner is described by the absence of clinging and by the relinquishing of desire-born resolves.
