उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
अलड्कारै: कवचै: केतुभिश्न सुखप्रणादैहेंषितैर्वा हयानाम् । भ्राजिष्मती दुष्प्रतिवीक्षणीया येषां चमूस्ते विजयन्ति शत्रून्,अलंकार, कवच, ध्वजा-पताका, सुखपूर्वक किये जानेवाले सिंहनाद अथवा घोड़ोंके हिनहिनानेकी आवाजसे जिनकी सेना अत्यन्त शोभायमान होती है तथा शत्रुओंको जिनकी सेनाकी ओर देखना भी कठिन जान पड़ता है, वे अवश्य अपने विपक्षियोंपर विजय पाते हैं
alaṅkāraiḥ kavacaiḥ ketubhiś ca sukhapraṇādaiḥ heṣitaiś ca hayānām | bhrājiṣmatī duṣprativīkṣaṇīyā yeṣāṃ camūs te vijayanti śatrūn ||
ব্যাস বললেন— যাদের সেনা অলংকার, বর্ম ও ধ্বজা-পতাকায়, এবং শুভ, নির্ভীক যুদ্ধনাদ ও অশ্বহ্রেষায় এমন দীপ্তিমান যে শত্রুর পক্ষে তার দিকে তাকানোও কঠিন— তারা অবশ্যই শত্রুকে পরাজিত করে।
