अपर्याप्तं तदस्माकं बल॑ भीष्माभिरक्षितम् । पर्याप्त॑ त्विदमेतेषां बल॑ भीमाभिरक्षितम्,'भीष्मपितामहद्वारा रक्षित हमारी वह सेना सब प्रकारसे अजेय है और भीमद्वारा रक्षित इन लोगोंकी यह सेना जीतनेमें सुगम है
aparyāptaṁ tad asmākaṁ balaṁ bhīṣmābhirakṣitam | paryāptaṁ tv idam eteṣāṁ balaṁ bhīmābhirakṣitam ||
ভীষ্মপিতামহের রক্ষায় আমাদের সেনাবল অপরিমেয় ও দুর্জয় বলে মনে হয়; কিন্তু ভীমের রক্ষায় এদের সেনাবল সীমিত, তাই জয় করা সহজ বলে প্রতীয়মান।
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores that judgments about power in conflict depend on leadership and psychological confidence as much as on raw numbers. Naming Bhishma and Bhima as protectors frames each side’s strength through the reputation and perceived effectiveness of its foremost champions.
Sanjaya reports to Dhritarashtra the assessment voiced in the Kaurava camp: their force, guarded by Bhishma, is viewed as formidable, while the Pandava force, guarded by Bhima, is viewed as more manageable. It is part of the pre-battle appraisal of the two armies on the field of Kurukshetra.
