उत्तड़क उवाच राजन गुर्वर्थिनं विद्धि चरन्तं मामिहागतम्‌ । न च गुर्वर्थमुद्युक्त हिंस्पमाहुर्मनीषिण:

Transliteration

Uttaṅka uvāca: rājan gurv-arthinaṃ viddhi carantaṃ mām ihāgatam | na ca gurv-artham udyuktaṃ hiṃsam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||

Translation

উত্তঙ্ক বললেন—“রাজন! আমাকে গুরুকার্য (গুরুদক্ষিণা) সাধনের জন্য প্রচেষ্টারত জেনে নিন; সেই উদ্দেশ্যেই আমি ঘুরে এখানে এসেছি। মনীষীরা বলেন—যে গুরুকার্যে উদ্যত, তাকে হিংসা করা উচিত নয়।”
