नास्याहं न मदीयो<यं पापं कुर्याद् विमानित: । इति दद्याद् भयादेव दृढं मूढाय पण्डित:
bhīṣma uvāca | nāsyāhaṃ na madīyo 'yaṃ pāpaṃ kuryād vimānitaḥ | iti dadyād bhayād eva dṛḍhaṃ mūḍhāya paṇḍitaḥ |
ভীষ্ম বললেন— ‘আমি তার নই, সেও আমার নয়; তবু আমি যদি তাকে কিছু না দিই, তবে অপমানিত হয়ে সে আমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপাচরণ করতে পারে’— এই ভয় থেকেই জ্ঞানী ব্যক্তি মূর্খকে দৃঢ়ভাবে দান করে; এ দান ভয়-প্রসূত।
