दृष्टवा शयानं शकुना: समन्तात् पर्यवारयन् | नेमां हिंस्युर्वने बालां क्रव्यादा मांसगृद्धिन:
dṛṣṭvā śayānaṃ śakunāḥ samantāt paryavārayan | nemāṃ hiṃsyur vane bālāṃ kravyādā māṃsagṛddhinaḥ ||
কণ্ব বললেন—সেই কন্যাশিশুকে শুয়ে থাকতে দেখে পাখিরা চারদিক থেকে এসে তাকে ঘিরে রক্ষাবলয় গড়ে তুলল। অরণ্যে মাংসলোভী, কাঁচা-মাংসভোজী হিংস্র জন্তুরাও সেই নিষ্পাপ শিশুকে আঘাত করতে পারল না।
