A ruler must uphold dharma by honoring a promised boon—especially one granted to a brāhmaṇa—since fidelity to one’s word sustains moral order and legitimacy.
During the proceedings, the Veda-versed assembly members collectively address the king and urge him to allow the brāhmaṇa (Āstīka) to receive the boon that has been offered, reinforcing the obligation to keep the grant.
