वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it highlights the epic’s ethical emphasis on lineage and rightful succession, themes that underpin later duties (dharma) and conflicts in the Kuru narrative.
This is the chapter-ending colophon stating that the section dealing with the begetting of sons for King Vicitravīrya has concluded, and it identifies the textual location: Mahābhārata → Ādi Parva → Sambhava Parva.
