Kardama Muni’s Mystic Opulence, Devahūti’s Rejuvenation, and the Turning Toward Fearlessness
bhartuḥ purastād ātmānaṁ strī-sahasra-vṛtaṁ tadā niśāmya tad-yoga-gatiṁ saṁśayaṁ pratyapadyata
Devahūti saw everything miraculously done, yet when brought before her husband she could understand that it was all due to his great yogic mystic power. She understood that nothing was impossible for a yogī like Kardama Muni.
This verse shows that witnessing extraordinary yogic accomplishments can trigger doubt and confusion; spiritual perception needs grounding in dharma and devotion rather than being overawed by siddhis.
She saw herself before her husband encircled by a thousand women—an astonishing manifestation tied to his yoga—so the unexpected scene led her mind into uncertainty about what was happening and why.
When confronted by impressive displays of power, charisma, or “spiritual” phenomena, pause and seek clarity through scripture, teachers, and steady practice instead of reacting from confusion or suspicion.
