It emphasizes śuddhi (purificatory sanctification) and krama (right order) in worship—outer ritual clarity supports inner steadiness, leading the devotee toward Shiva-consciousness and liberation in the Shaiva Siddhanta spirit.
The lotus and āsana are the prepared sacred locus where Saguna Shiva—often as the Śiva-liṅga—is invoked and honored; sprinkling with consecrated water marks the transition from ordinary space to a sanctified field fit for divine presence.
Perform prokṣaṇa (sprinkling) with sanctified water as per śāstra, then visualize and arrange the āsana with its supports (ādhāra-ādi) in sequence—an external rite paired with focused dhyāna on Shiva as Pati, the Lord who frees the bound soul (paśu) from bondage (pāśa).
