FAQs

It teaches dependence: the inner faculties (mind, intellect, citta) and even the individual self function under higher reality, and ultimately both Brahmā and all beings take refuge in Viṣṇu (Hṛṣīkeśa) as the Supreme.

Hṛṣīkeśa is a name of Viṣṇu meaning “Lord of the senses.” The title highlights divine sovereignty over the sensory and mental apparatus, aligning with the verse’s theme that mind and cognition are not independent.

It suggests humility and surrender: if even Brahmā is said to seek refuge in the Supreme, then a seeker should cultivate devotion, reliance on God, and restraint of mind and senses under divine guidance.
