Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
क्षमा दमश्न सत्यं च आनृशंस्यमथार्जवम् । एते चान्ये च बहवो यस्मिन् नित्य॑ं द्विजे गुणा:,इन विप्रशिरोमणिमें क्षमा, इन्द्रियसंयम, सत्य, कोमलता, सरलता तथा अन्य बहुत-से सदगुण नित्य विद्यमान हैं
kṣamā damaś ca satyaṃ cānṛśaṃsyam athārjavam | ete cānye ca bahavo yasmin nityaṃ dvije guṇāḥ ||
সেই দ্বিজশ্ৰেষ্ঠত ক্ষমা, ইন্দ্ৰিয়সংযম, সত্য, কৰুণা আৰু সৰলতা—এইবোৰ আৰু বহু গুণ নিত্য বিদ্যমান।
अजुन उवाच
The verse presents a compact list of dharmic virtues—patience/forgiveness, self-restraint, truth, compassion, and straightforwardness—held up as enduring marks of an exemplary Brahmin character.
Arjuna is praising a Brahmin (addressed as ‘dvija’ and ‘foremost among Brahmins’), affirming that such noble qualities are constantly present in him, thereby establishing his moral authority and worthiness within the episode.
