वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct expressed as humility and respectful speech: even powerful figures (the Kuru princes led by Yudhiṣṭhira) respond with restraint and courtesy, acknowledging social order and the host-guest relationship.
After the Matsya king speaks, the Pāṇḍavas—described as Kuru descendants—reply individually with folded hands, with Yudhiṣṭhira leading. It depicts a formal courtly exchange during their time in the Matsya kingdom.
