वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should first make a clear, comprehensive decision about one’s duty (svadharma) and then act with disciplined timing (yathākāla). Such dharma-aligned, well-timed resolve is presented as the cause of lasting well-being rather than short-lived gain.
Vaiśampāyana, narrating the events, delivers a counsel to a kingly figure (addressed as manuṣyendra), affirming that if he determines his obligations according to dharma and fulfills them at the appropriate time, he will attain enduring happiness.
