घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that sacred places associated with the completion of great Vedic rites carry enduring spiritual potency; visiting such a tīrtha with reverence yields merit comparable to major acts of charity (here, the gift of a thousand cows).
A speaker named Ghūlastya addresses a king and describes the spiritual reward of going to the tīrtha called Avasāna, identified as the site where sages completed their sattra-sacrifices.
