बृहदश्च उवाच
As a chapter-colophon, the verse chiefly signals completion, but it also frames the episode’s ethical focus: Damayantī’s steadfastness and rightful agency in choosing, and the importance of preserving a coherent, truthful account (saṃbandha) of events that bear on dharma.
This is the formal closing statement for the chapter: it declares that the seventieth chapter of the Nalopākhyāna within the Vana Parva—connected with Damayantī’s second svayaṃvara—has ended, preparing the listener for the next portion of the story.
