मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct through filial devotion and reverent worship: honoring one’s father (pitṛbhakti) and acting consistently after giving assent (“evam astu”) are presented as ethically commendable.
After saying “So be it,” Mahāsena proceeds to worship Maheśvara, treating him as a father-figure; Mārkaṇḍeya narrates this act to emphasize Mahāsena’s boundless strength and his father-devoted nature.
