वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights rāja-dharma in practice: honoring a revered guest through lavish hospitality and respectful speech. Ethically, it shows how generosity and deference can function both as genuine reverence and as diplomatic strategy in a tense political climate.
Kṛṣṇa, renowned and radiant, ascends a splendid palace. The Kurus address him with honorific epithets and formally offer their jewel-rich homes for his use—an act of courtly reception meant to acknowledge his status and influence.
