Educational Q&A

Disciplined discipleship under a true teacher—especially the vow and conduct of brahmacarya—purifies and matures a person so that they become competent to understand and transmit śāstra in this life, and ultimately attain the supreme realization (parama-yoga) after death.

In the Sanatsujātīya section of Udyoga Parva, Sanatsujāta instructs (in a didactic setting) on the path of knowledge and liberation. Here he praises the transformative power of entering a teacher’s lineage and living strict student-discipline, linking ethical restraint with both learning and final spiritual attainment.
