गृहाणेमां महाबाहो रक्षस्व कुलमात्मन: । त्वया विभ्रृशिता हीयं भर्तारें नाधिगच्छति
gṛhāṇemāṃ mahābāho rakṣasva kulam ātmanaḥ | tvayā vibhraṣṭitā hīyaṃ bhartāraṃ nādhigacchati ||
Rāma said: “O mighty-armed one, accept me and protect your own lineage. Cast off by you, this woman will not find a husband.”
राम उवाच
The verse stresses social and ethical responsibility: accepting and protecting a dependent person safeguards one’s lineage and honor, while rejection can leave the woman socially vulnerable and without marital protection.
Rāma addresses a powerful man, urging him to accept the woman and protect his family line, warning that if she is rejected by him she will not be able to secure a husband.
