Educational Q&A

Unrighteous action (duṣkṛta) ripens into suffering: when consequences arrive—loss of kin and one’s own death—one is forced into moral self-recognition. The verse frames war not merely as violence but as the ethical fruition of prior wrongdoing.

Sañjaya addresses Suyodhana (Duryodhana) with a grim foretelling: he will hear of the deaths of his brothers and sons, and then be slain by Bhīmasena; at that moment he will remember the misdeeds that led to this end.
