iti śrīmahābhārate udyogaparvaṇi bhagavadyānaparvaṇi viduravākye triṃśayavadhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
As a colophon, the verse does not add new instruction but signals that Vidura’s counsel has concluded. Its ethical force lies in framing the preceding discourse as authoritative guidance offered to preserve dharma through wise policy and restraint before conflict escalates.
The text marks the end of a chapter in the Udyoga Parva, within the Bhagavad-yāna section, identifying it as ‘Vidura’s Speech.’ This situates Vidura’s admonitions within the broader lead-up to the Kurukṣetra war, amid attempts at negotiation and prevention of war.
