Educational Q&A

Counsel should be offered with the sincere aim of welfare (śarma) not only for an individual but also for their wider circle of relations and dependents; ethical advice is framed as responsibility toward one’s entire social bond-network.

Vaiśampāyana introduces a passage of admonition/counsel addressed to a Bhārata prince, emphasizing that the forthcoming words are spoken for the listener’s good, explicitly including the well-being of their family and connected allies.
