Rules for Dharmic Victory in Kṣatriya Engagement

अशस्त्रं क्षत्रियं मत्वा शस्त्र गृह्लाद्‌ यथापर: । त्राणायाप्यसमर्थ त॑ं मन्यमानमतीव च,यदि उस देशका क्षत्रिय शस्त्रहीन हो और अपनी रक्षा करनेमें भी अपनेको अत्यन्त असमर्थ मानता हो तो वहाँका क्षत्रियेतर मनुष्य भी देशकी रक्षाके लिये शस्त्र ग्रहण कर सकता है

aśastraṃ kṣatriyaṃ matvā śastraṃ gṛhṇīyād yathāparaḥ | trāṇāyāpy asamarthaṃ taṃ manyamānam atīva ca ||

ভীষ্ম ক’লে—যদি সেই দেশৰ ক্ষত্ৰিয় অস্ত্ৰহীন হয় আৰু নিজ ৰক্ষা কৰাতো নিজকে অতিশয় অক্ষম বুলি ভাবে, তেন্তে দেশৰ ৰক্ষাৰ বাবে সেই দেশৰ ক্ষত্ৰিয়েতৰ লোকেও অস্ত্ৰ ধাৰণ কৰিব পাৰে।
