Śānti Parva, Adhyāya 52 — Bhīṣma’s Humility Before Kṛṣṇa and the Granting of Boons
yacca kiñcit kvacilloke kartavyaṁ kriyate ca yat | tvattastanniḥsṛtaṁ deva loke buddhimato hi te ||
All rightful action (kartavya) and even the discerning intelligence of the wise are presented as ultimately originating from the divine; ethical life is grounded in a higher source rather than mere personal preference.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, states a doctrinal point to a divine addressee: whatever duties are prescribed and whatever actions occur in the world are traced back to that deity as their ultimate source.
