A solitary life-journey—especially a moral or spiritual undertaking—cannot be safely completed without steadiness, support, provisions (inner resources), and right guidance; otherwise one risks being lost in the ‘dark wilderness’ of confusion and error.
Narada addresses someone undertaking a difficult course and challenges the feasibility of proceeding alone, portraying the path as a dark and dangerous wilderness lacking rest, support, supplies, and guidance—an admonition to seek proper direction and preparedness.
