युधिषछ्िर उवाच
The verse models disciplined inquiry: before judging or reacting to suffering (here, ‘fever’), one should seek its true origin and causal chain, asking for a careful, detailed explanation from a competent authority.
In a teacher–disciple style exchange within Śānti Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully questions a wise interlocutor about how ‘Jvara’ arose and requests a thorough account of its genesis, setting up an explanatory discourse.
