चिरं धारयते रोषं चिरं कर्म नियच्छति । पश्चात्तापकरं कर्म न किंचिदुपपद्यते
ciraṁ dhārayate roṣaṁ ciraṁ karma niyacchati | paścāttāpakaraṁ karma na kiṁcid upapadyate ||
যি পুৰুষে দীঘলীয়া সময় ধৰি ক্ৰোধক অন্তৰত সংযত কৰি ৰাখে আৰু ক্ৰোধবশত কৰিব খোজা কৰ্মসমূহ দীঘলীয়া সময় ধৰি ৰোধ কৰে, তাৰ পৰা পাছত অনুতাপ জন্মোৱা কোনো কৰ্মই উদ্ভৱ নহয়।
भीष्म उवाच
Sustained restraint of anger and the actions prompted by it prevents regretful, harmful deeds; self-control is presented as a practical foundation of dharma.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on righteous conduct, Bhishma advises the listener that mastering anger—by containing it and delaying anger-driven action—ensures one does not commit acts that later demand repentance.
