व्यास उवाच
The verse teaches that the highest spiritual attainment is secured through mastery over the senses, and that such self-mastery culminates in a supreme destiny comparable to reaching Viṣṇu’s own realms—linking ethical discipline (indriya-jaya) with ultimate liberation.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and right conduct, Vyāsa states a doctrinal conclusion: the person described (a disciplined, virtuous seeker) attains an exalted post-mortem goal—either entry into Viṣṇu’s world or the same highest ‘gati’ reserved for the self-controlled.
