Adhyāya 240: Indriya–Manas–Buddhi–Ātman — The Inner Hierarchy and Restraint (इन्द्रिय-मनस्-बुद्धि-आत्म-क्रमः)

प्रमोहो भ्रम आवर्तो घ्राणं श्रवणदर्शने । अद्भुतानि रसस्पर्शे शीतोष्णे मारुताकृति:

vyāsa uvāca | pramoho bhrama āvarto ghrāṇaṃ śravaṇadarśane | adbhutāni rasasparśe śītoṣṇe mārutākṛtiḥ | sattvasaṃsevanād dhīro nidrām ucchettum arhati |

ব্যাসে ক’লে—ইন্দ্ৰিয়ৰ দ্বাৰা প্ৰমোহ, ভ্ৰম আৰু চিত্তৰ আবর্ত উঠে—ঘ্ৰাণে, শ্ৰৱণ আৰু দৰ্শনে; ৰস আৰু স্পৰ্শে বিচিত্ৰ আসক্তি জন্মে; আৰু শীত-উষ্ণৰ অনুভৱে মনত বায়ুৰ দৰে চঞ্চলতা জাগে। সত্ত্বৰ সাধনাৰে ধীৰ পুৰুষ নিদ্ৰা (আলস্য-অপ্ৰমাদ) ছিন্ন কৰিবলৈ যোগ্য হয়। সেয়ে যোগত কোৱা পাঁচ দোষ—কাম, ক্ৰোধ, লোভ, ভয় আৰু পঞ্চম স্বপ্ন/নিদ্ৰা—এইবোৰ মূলসহ উচ্ছেদ কৰিব লাগে। ক্ৰোধক শমে জয় কৰিব, কামক সংকল্প-ত্যাগে পৰাভূত কৰিব, আৰু সত্ত্বাভ্যাসে নিদ্ৰা নিবারণ কৰিব।
