Guru’s Instruction on Dream, Mind, Guṇas, and Knowing Brahman

Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra

इनके सिवा और भी बहुत-से रणदुर्मद दानव थे, जो देवताओंकी उत्तम समृद्धिको सहन नहीं कर पाते थे ।। दानवैरर्धमानास्तु देवा देवर्षयस्तथा । न शर्म लेभिरे राजन्‌ विशमानास्ततस्तत:,राजन! उन दानवोंसे पीड़ित हो देवता और देवर्षि कहीं चैन नहीं पाते थे। वे इधर-उधर लुकते-छिपते फिरते थे

dānavair ardhamānāstu devā devarṣayastathā | na śarma lebhire rājan viśamānāstatastataḥ ||

ইয়াৰ বাহিৰেও বহু ৰণদুৰ্মদ দানৱ আছিল, যিসকলে দেৱতাসকলৰ উত্তম সমৃদ্ধি সহ্য কৰিব নোৱাৰিছিল। সেই দানৱসকলৰ উৎপীড়নত, হে ৰাজন, দেৱ আৰু দেৱর্ষিসকলে ক’তো শান্তি নাপালে; তেওঁলোকে ব্যাকুল হৈ ঠাইয়ে ঠাইয়ে লুকাই-ছুপাই ঘূৰি ফুৰিলে।

Unchecked power driven by envy of others’ prosperity disrupts peace and cosmic order; even the mighty (gods and seers) suffer when adharma becomes dominant, implying the need for righteous restraint and protection of order.

Bhīṣma describes a time when numerous Dānavas, unable to tolerate the gods’ flourishing, harass them so severely that the Devas and Devarṣis cannot find safety and must roam from place to place in hiding.
