युधिषछ्िर उवाच
The verse frames Viṣṇu (identified with Kṛṣṇa through epithets like Acyuta and Puṇḍarīkākṣa) as the eternal, uncreated agent who is both the origin and the dissolution of all beings—grounding ethics and dharma in a cosmic, divine source.
In the Śānti Parva dialogue, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Bhīṣma as the wise grandsire and asks him to speak about the Lord—his nature and greatness—specifically as the source and end of all creatures.
