अज्ञान–लोभयोः परस्परहेतुत्वम्

Mutual Causality of Ignorance and Greed

त्यजतां जीवितं श्रेयो निवृत्ते पुण्यपापके । इस संसारके सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंमें जब दुःख ही नहीं है

śaunaka uvāca | tyajatāṃ jīvitaṃ śreyo nivṛtte puṇya-pāpake |

যিসকলৰ পুণ্য আৰু পাপ—দুয়োটা নিৱৃত্ত হৈছে, তেওঁলোকৰ বাবে জীৱন ত্যাগো শ্ৰেয় বুলি গণ্য। কিয়নো এই সংসাৰত দুঃখ নাথাকিলে সুখ ক’ৰ পৰা আহিব? সুখ-দুঃখ প্ৰকৃতিত আবদ্ধ প্ৰাণীৰ ধৰ্ম; সংস্পৰ্শ-সংসৰ্গৰ দোষ অনুসৰি সিহঁত উদ্ভৱ হয়। কিন্তু যিসকলে ‘মোৰ’ বোধ আৰু অহংকাৰসহ সকলো ত্যাগ কৰিছে, আৰু যিসকলৰ পুণ্য-পাপ দুয়োটা শান্ত—তেনে পুৰুষৰ জীৱনেই কল্যাণময় হয়।
