Educational Q&A

The verse underscores martial preparedness and confidence grounded in capability: possession of divinely empowered weapons and practiced skill in warfare. Ethically, it reflects the kṣatriya valuation of competence and strategic assurance, even as the surrounding Sauptika narrative problematizes how such power is used.

Kṛpa is assessing the strength of their side by affirming that he and his companion have divine weapons, and that Kṛtavarmā—identified as a Sātvata—remains consistently expert in battle. It functions as a reassurance of their resources and readiness within the tense events of the Sauptika Parva.
