aṁśumān bhojarājas tu sahasainyo mahārathaḥ
The verse underscores the kṣatriya ideal of leadership in war: a king is expected to stand at the forefront as a mahāratha and commit resources decisively. Ethically, it highlights the tension between duty-bound resolve and the human cost implied by mobilizing vast forces.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Bhoja king Aṁśumān, renowned as a great chariot-warrior, is present/advancing with a large contingent. It is a battlefield notice marking the arrival or deployment of a significant royal fighter and his troops.
